Apple iPhone 3G eBay Restrictions

Posted by michael on June 13th, 2008

As quoted by eBay announcements…

***Listing Policy Clarifications: Apple iPhone 3G Pre-Sales and Post-Launch Sales***

June 12, 2008 | 04:15PM PST/PT

The following listing policy clarifications will be implemented effective immediately:

Apple iPhone 3G Pre-Sales are prohibited. This highly-anticipated device will be in high demand after the US release on July 11th, 2008. Prior to the release of similar high-demand electronics, we saw a high number of well-intentioned sellers unable to meet their pre-sale obligations to buyers due to restricted supply, as well as an increase in fraudulent listings for these items. To prevent similar problems with the iPhone 3G, eBay is prohibiting all pre-sales of this device.

Criteria for Apple iPhone 3G Post-Launch Sales. In order to continue to ensure protection for our Community after these items are made available by the manufacturer, the following requirements have been put in place for the sale of the iPhone:

-The listing must include a unique photograph of the item or items
-Your User ID must be clearly displayed within the photograph (watermarks will not be accepted).
-To ensure buyer protection, PayPal must be the only accepted form of payment

Sellers will also be notified of these requirements during the listing process when using the Sell Your Item form.

!!!!End eBay Quote!!!!

So it appears that eBay is bracing itself and looking to protect us (and itself) from possible 3G iPhone Pre-sales. They did the same thing when the first generation iPhone was released so I guess this shouldn’t come as any surprise really.

But what do you think?

Is this fair?

Does it protect us or restrict us?

Does this policy go far enough or is it just a waste of time?

Have your say in the “Something To Say” section below.

Regards,

Apple Release eBay iPhone Sales Data

Posted by michael on June 10th, 2008

eBay has released an exclusive iPhone index which places all iPhone related sales data at your fingertips.

As the sales of Apples prized iPhone continue to decline, more and more ‘unlocked’ iPhones are starting to appear with prices falling at an alarming rate. O2 has just slashed £100 off the UK 8Gb model.

O2, (in the UK), are currently offering the 8Gb model for £169/$340, while in Germany, T-Mobile are offering the same model for just 99 Euros which is around £78/US$153.

The price of the 16Gb model remains unchanged however.

But why is this happening?

Well, when Apple released the iPhone they anticipated 500,000 sales across Europe but to date, that sales figures sits at just 330,000. The reasons for this are cited that Apple made some big mistakes when they brought their iPhone to market.

For one, the product was lacking some features that should have been included as standard. The fact that the phone didn’t offer 3G - instead it offered the slower alternative of EDGE. Another factor is the phone didn’t feature a camera or MMS (image text messaging).

Be honest, if you walked into a mobile phone store and was offered a phone that didn’t have 3G, didn’t have a camera and couldn’t send MMS text messages, would you still buy one for over £200/$400 and pay £35/$70 line rental?

Yeah, neither would I but this is the Apple iPhone we’re talking about which is why 330,000 models were sold across Europe. This however wasn’t as many as Apple had hoped for.

So now that the prices are falling and unlocked models are appearing, what does this mean for buyers and sellers on eBay? Obviously, if the new prices are falling and a new model is due to be released, then this will have a knock on effect across the used market - namely eBay.

So, below, what you will find is the latest Apple iPhone sales data for the iPhone. At your finger tips is all of the sales data you need to decide if this is a good time to buy or begin selling a model that is due to be replaced.

And to be super helpful, you’ll also be able to see all related sales data for the iPhone accessories too ;-)

How You can get Rich from Exploiting the Poor!

Posted by michael on May 16th, 2008

President Bush recently requested another $70 billion to fund the campaign in Iraq. Was Saddam a monster? Were there WMDs? Links to Al-Qaeda? Was it all about oil…? All excellent questions, but isn’t the question - Can’t $70 billion be better spent?

I don’t know about you but I like to fritter my hard-earned cash away on little luxuries like, oh, I don’t know, food, shelter, heating… So thanks to this voracious ‘shopping’ addiction of mine, it’s possible I’ll never see $70 billion in my bank account.

Of course, it might be different for you - the average wage in the U.S. is around $40,000 so you could see $70 billion in your account in just 1.75 million years.

Still, just in case you retire before you hit that landmark, here’s what $70 billion actually looks like - $70,000,000,000.00

Yep, that’s a whole lot of zeroes!

So, back to ‘the’ question - what could you spend all those zeros on if not on killing people?

You can read the rest of this article on the blog that it was posted to at http://www.lionsledbysheep.com/2008/05/15/poverty/trackback/

Don’t Make This Keyword Mistake

Posted by michael on March 3rd, 2008

The keywords with the highest search are the most profitable? Right?

Well to millions that is true … however people in the known generally stay away until it’s the right time.

Hundreds and thousands of webmasters are competing for the highest searched keyword position. Let’s take golf for example.

Golf – 620,000 searches a month

At present on Google there are 326,000,000 (B for billion) phrases listed for this highly competitive search term.

There’s ONLY one logical reason why everyone is trying to compete for this keyword. Go to any keyword search tool and it’s listed at the top… i.e. the highest search term.

Now thousands, eyes closed start trying hard to get ranked for this keyword, day in day out. However do they know the facts behind this term?

No, I can bet 99% don’t.

Have you ever thought why you don’t get many sales when you are placed at the top of the search engines? I mean it sounds crazy right? Number 1 listing and the search number doesn’t constitute the sales figures!

Well here’s something to open your thinking levels.

When we rank for a competitive term, what happens? It’s true everyone is trying to compete. Everyone also plays with their pages, revisit Google, type in golf and searches through to see where they are listed.

Couple of days later you do the exact thing… type the term and see where you are listed.

You could say you do that at least 5 maybe 20 times in a day. Now how many people do you think are doing exactly the same?

Now being number one for golf, means more clicks for sure. However what do people do when they search golf and are looking for golf tips? They see you listed for golf, click and click back as they don’t see relevant information regarding golf tips.

Ok let’s do some maths now…

Let’s say out of 100 people typing in golf, 40% are competitors, 30% happy clickers and 30% are ‘potential’ prospects.

Competitors checking to see where they are ranked, happy clickers because you happen to be number one and potential prospects that have an interest in golf!

Now what’s 30% of 620,000 searches? 186,000.

See the big number change for ‘real’ searches?

So don’t fall prey of going after the number one search term as you could possibly waste months and months when only you will receive a handful number of ‘real’ customers.

So where are the real customers?

It’s not hard to figure out as Google Snatch explains where to go for people with credit cards waiting in their hands.

And right now you can download a sneak preview copy of Google Snatch for FREE. I got hold of a preview copy that I can let you download for free so you can see for yourself exactly how good Google Snatch is.

Download your sneak preview copy of Google Snatch Here. I’m not even going to ask you for your email address either.

You can just go ahead and download it right now for free.

Have you ever sat and asked yourself “What the ‘lifetime value’ of each customer is worth to my business”?

If you don’t know what ‘lifetime value’ means then you really do need to read this post very carefully as you are about to see a very valuable nugget on information unfold in front of your eyes that WILL impact on your bottom line.

Your business, just like any other business, NEEDS customers – without them you, me and every other business owner will watch their business die – this is something we all must avoid at all costs.
So what can you do right now to help steer your business away from this path? Well, actually, the answer is very simple and you should be doing this right now.
Good (no, actually) OUTSTANDING Customer Care and Support!!!

There, the secrets out.

Now if you’re thinking, “Customer support, big deal, why will that save my business”?, then listen to this real life experience that I recently had which proves beyond any shadow of doubt how a first class customer care attitude WILL save or improve your business right now.

Now, let me make it clear, the business that I dealt with did not know of me before and they did not know I was an internet marketer. I was just a plain, bog standard customer making a one time purchase from their eBay store. Yes, I did say their eBay Store because this is how I discovered their company.

Anyway, I was looking for a personalised Valentines Day gift for my girlfriend. I wanted something a little bit special so I searched on eBay for “personalised valentines gift’. After a quick scan I found an item listed which caught my attention and also led me to the sellers’ store.

After finding exactly what I was looking for I made the purchase and paid via PayPal.

I dropped the seller a quick note as I wanted the item sending to a different address but this unfortunately caused a little confusion (which was very much my own fault), causing the item to be sent to the wrong address and in turn it was sent back to the seller.

Now this is where I was expecting the seller to ask me to pay for the shipping again but to my surprise the seller told me that they would happily pay for the postage again and apologised for the mix up even though it was my own fault.

Now this is where I was very impressed by their customer service.

Did you notice something very important in that last sentence? The seller said they would “Happily” pay for the postage again AND they apologised to me for my own mistake.

After all, as far as they we’re concerned, I was just another customer but what they had actually just done is turned my from a one time customer into a life long customer and a fan who will happily tell other people about my experience.

And this has worked because since that transaction on eBay I have purchased more items directly from their own website, thus saving them from having to pay the high eBay fees.

In fact, that one kind act of customer care has;

  • Gained them a lifetime customer
  • Someone who will tell others about their products and business
  • From now on I will buy from their website instead of their eBay store
  • This means they successfully used eBay to grow their business by gaining a new customer

Can you see the massive benefits this has to their business? Do you see how YOU could have these same benefits to YOUR business? Outstanding customer service is something you can implement right away. Remember, every customer should be treated like they are a millionaire.

As I said, simply due to this companies customer care I have become a life long customer. I plan to make a dozen or further transaction a year with this company. Of these purchases I have already made, the first one was worth £27/$54 and the next was worth £33/$66 (both of which were in February) so you can appreciate the value of my custom over the next 12 months.

But the real benefit is that I am really happy to tell other people about the service I received and the quality of the products – I became a raving fan – which is the best customer YOUR business could ask for.

So ask yourself this question, “What am I doing to make sure I convert a one time customer into a life long customer”?

Remember, treat every customer as if they are a millionaire - treat them in a way that would make them happy to do business with you again – treat them in a way that would make them happily tell other people about their experience as your customer.

When you achieve this then you WILL impact on your bottom line, your business will grow and your profits will rise too. All you need to do is treat every single customer with kindness, respect and gratitude. If you feel uncomfortable doing this or feel you will be wasting your time then maybe you shouldn’t be running your own business? Outstanding customer care is golden, get it right and you’ll benefit, get it wrong and you will know it.

I am in no way associated with or affiliated to this company but I am so impressed by their customer care that I am happy to tell you to visit http://www.nameitgifts.co.uk/ for some really brilliant and unique gifts which are ideal for valentines day, mothers day, fathers days, birthdays - you get the idea.

And if you have any questions then simply email Gillian and you’ll soon discover their brilliant customer care - see, I told you I am a raving fan ;-)

The Apple iPhone Craze Is Dead

Posted by michael on November 22nd, 2007

Will someone please bring out a new mobile phone so we can get over this iPhone craze thing?

Heck, it’s just another phone with a few more bells and whistles that make different noises - bottom line is, it doesn’t really do anything new does it.

FACT - It DOESN’T send picture messages!!!

FACT - It DOESN’T have a camera!!!

Anyone smelling a hint of coffee in the air?

I’m not going to put this phone in the shade but if you put it in the light, you need to ask, “Is this phone really worth the £269 price tag and an 18 month contract that will cost at least £630 over that period”.

I agree the phone looks cool and has some great new features but I’ll be glad to see the next new model launched by any of the mobile phone makes just to get a break from the iPhone hype ;-)

And there is an ever growing demand for new mobile phones to suit everyone’s tastes, style and requirements. This isn’t a demand that will ever slow down either. Every year more and more of us buy new mobile phones even though our current phone still does the job. So why do we always want a new or better phone?

There may be 101 reasons why you want to go and get the latest mobile phone, whether it’s the Nokia N95 or the LG KU990 Viewty or the Chic looking new Levi mobile phone, it seems at some stage we will want move to a newer phone.

If you live in the UK you will be familiar with the main networks of O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Virgin Mobile which are the current mobile phone network providers.

These four mobile phone networks provide us with a staggering choice of handsets from the different mobile phone manufacturers such as Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG, Motorola, Blackberry, Prada etc

And then each mobile phone manufacturer has so many different handsets, it seems trying to choose the right phone on the right tariff is an almost impossible task.

This is why I have moved to creating and launching a new mobile phone site that allows you to easily choose the right phone for you in a non confusing manner and there is no bias towards any network, phone manufacturer, handset or tariff.

You are 100% free to choose the right phone for you, on the exact tariff that best suits your needs. At http://www.bestmobilephoneoffers.co.uk/ we like to make life easier and simpler. Heck, we’ll even deliver your phone direct to your front door the very next day for FREE!!!

Pop on over and choose the mobile phone that’s right for you and we’ll deliver it to you by tomorrow for FREE. We have some amazing deals going on right now so make sure you don’t miss them http://www.bestmobilephoneoffers.co.uk/

How To Create Online Web 2.0 Graphics

Posted by michael on November 7th, 2007

Hi,

Now before you ask, Nope, this isn’t gonna be a post about Photoshop or recommend some high end graphics software that is so advanced you’ll probably never use half its features anyway…

No, instead, this is about how we can all create these flash looking, glossy, Web 2.0 graphics that ‘everyone’ else seems to be using these days. It looks like the old plain images have been thrown out and replaced by these ‘new kids on the block’ images ;-)

The problem is, not everyone has a few hundred bucks to splash out on Photoshop and then a week or so trying to learn how to use it. And if you’re like me, you don’t want to have to keep shelling out cash to a graphics designer every time you need a new graphic creating.

It kinda gets to the point where you need an alternative that delivers but don’t have the same price tag, so when I heard that Bill Ortell has just opened the doors to his brand new online Web 2.0 Graphics Tool I just had to take a peek to see what all the fuss is about…

…and here’s what all that fuss is all about…

http://www.michaelsherriff.com/blog/web-20-graphics-tool/

For the sake of your pocket, you gotta take a look at this if you’re still using old style web graphics or paying someone else to make them for you…
