If you have been following the last post and the comments about directory submission software you will know that since I posted about a new “directory submitter” from Bran Callen, it has gained a few comments and one of which questioned why or how this software was better/different from other, similar, software.
If you have not read that post, you can read it here http://www.michaelsherriff.com/blog/2007/easy-link-booster/
One comment asked how this software differed to one called “Link Directory Submitter”, available from http://www.directorysubmitter.com/
So, to find out, I downloaded both of the software programs and used them both.
While both of these software will do exactly the same job as each other, “Link Directory Submitter” costs $97 whereas “Directory Submitter” costs $47
“Link Directory Submitter” does have a trial version which you can download for free but its limitations are that it will only work for ten days and you can only submit to 100 directories out of its database of 2,000.
After the ten days trial is over, to continue using the software you will HAVE to pay $97 do continue using it.
With “Directory Submitter“, it offers you a free version and a paid version. The free version does not have a time limitation so you will never have to pay to use it. Its limitation is that it will only allow you to submit to 350 of the directories out of its database of 1,700.
Personally, I also felt that “Directly Submitter” was cleaner and easier to use, although “Link Directory Submitter” is nowhere near complicated to use. It’s just that “Directory Submitter” feels cleaner and smoother, it also smaller to download and the install file is just one single file.
With “Link Directory Submitter”, you download a zipped file containing 3 folders and a few other files and to some people, it may not be too clear which file you need to double click to begin the install.
In conclusion, “Directory Submitter” gets my personal vote because you are free to use the free version for as long as you like while still being able to submit an unlimited number of your websites to 350 different directories and should you choose to upgrade to the full version it only costs $47.
I felt that “Link Directory Submitter” forces you to pay the $97 to continue using it and for the ten days that you can use it for free, you can only submit to 100 directories.
The final choice of course is going to be yours so I recommend that you try them both but if you think that submitting your website to 350 directories is going to be enough for you then I would go for “Directory Submitter” based on the fact that it really is free and never forces you to pay to continue using it.
