Google Custom Search

Ok, this may sound like a daft question but there is a reason and nope, I’ve not lost the plot (although I’m sure it won’t be long now)….

Stumble, well actually, “Stumble Upon” to be correct is a new site to join the latest line of social bookmarking/voting sites and it’s getting some really good reviews. I found it a few weeks ago and have been giving it a whirl before blogging about it to make sure it is a site that’s gonna stick around.

Well, looks like it’s gonna stick around because it is just growing and growing all the time but I bet you’re wondering what the heck “StumbleUpon” is. OK, in simple terms….

It is a way for you to ‘vote’ for websites that you visit, kinda like a ratings system and because the system relies on human views of a website and then to take an action to vote for it, it means websites that have gained good votes are of a genuine high standard.

Voting is real easy but does require the “StumbleUpon” tool bar to be installed and an account created at www.stumbleupon.com before you can begin voting but once the toolbar is in place, all you need to do is click the thumbs up or the thumbs down voting button while you are visiting the site you want to vote for.

I have the toolbar installed and it’s not caused any problems and is quite safe. I would recommend taking a look at StumbleUpon and install the tool bar. But how will this bring YOU traffic?

Well, when you install the “StumbleUpon” tool bar, as well as the voting buttons, there is also a “Stumble” button which when you click it, it will take you to a random website of a “StumbleUpon” member. Click the button again and you will be taken to another members site at random.

You don’t have to vote each time you view a members site. Basically, by clicking the “Stumble” button, you are going to view only sites that have been given positive votes. This is the social voting system in full swing. So, the more good votes your site gets, the more it will be viewed when people click the “Stumble” button in their toolbar.

As this is a ‘web 2.0′ type of thing, you can bet your shirt that it will gain more and more importance as time goes on and things continue to change on the web.

I think that “StumbleUpon” will gain more importance very quickly that I have also added the “StumbleUponIt” button in all of my blog posts so that people can simple click the button right in the blog post to vote for my websites and pages.

You’ll see the button that I mean just below this line at the end of this post. Go on, give it a click and see what all this StumbleUpon is all about. To get the toolbar, just visit www.stumbleupon.com and nope, that’s not an affiliate link ;-)
