Although it is pivotal to online marketing, many people either don’t bother or don’t know how to build an email list which is probably one of the main things that any online business must have.

There are probably loads of reasons why you don’t have a list of email subscribers or a large list of email subscribers or a responsive list of email subscribers but the thing, you MUST MUST MUST have one or begin building one RIGHT NOW!!!

Why?

Well, although the you may think of them as a bunch of people who read your emails, the fact is that every single person who is on your email list is a potential customer of your next product or a product that you promote!!!

But actually that’s quite shallow sounding and, in truth, it is a very shallow way of looking at it because anyone who is on your email list is actually a ‘friend’. Although the two of you may never meet in person or get to talk on the phone, the fact remains that you communicate with each other.

Every time you send an email to someone on your email list, they can reply to you, so it is very important that you treat each person like a person, like a friend and ALWAYS make time for them - like they make time for you when you send them an email.

But all this is well and good IF you already have an email list, but what about if you are sat reading this and thinking, “Hold up there Michael, I don’t even have an email list”.

Well, shame on you… No, only kidding

The thing is though, you really should have an email list of subscribers. In fact, if we step away from all of the smoke and marketing bull**it that hangs around, there are only three things you need to make it online;

1) A good product and preferably your own so it’s unique
2) Traffic to send to the website where your product is
3) An mailing list for people to join who come to your site and/or who buy your product

 There you go, those three things are all you need. Now, you can go and make any one of them as simple or as complicated as you want but you must have all of them to succeed.

And although we could sit here and create a blog post longer than War & Peace that covers the many options to achieve each of the three things, I think you’d either get a numb bum, bored or into trouble if you are reading this at work or at college, so let’s just hit one thing for now shall we - YOU NEED AN EMAIL LIST!!!

There is a reason for skipping the first two things and that’s because you can still make an online business without your own product if you have an email list - and we’ll skip the traffic one as we can cover this in the details of how to build your own email list, from scratch, even if you’re a complete newbie.

Now, listen closely OK because the part about building an email list from scratch even if you’re new to all of this is about to be revealed but not by some lame ebook thing (nah, you’d never get the gist of it with an ebook).
